Life Is A Pot Of Stew
Financial challenges earlier in life made it difficult for me to gain much confidence in what I was trying to achieve and communicate. My mother supported me but I found that I was very sensitive to the opinions of others. I knew that I had the ability to achieve great things but my expectation was to fail. Therefore, I found that whatever idea I had or actions I started, I would tend to find a reason why it could not work. But I still had this burning desire to understand what life is all about. It is not always easy to let go of negative influences, particularly when they come from loved ones or friends, but doing this is the key to success. It all comes down to your choice of what it is that you allow to influence your life. There are a lot of things we can learn from others, but we need the support of people who are positive minded, if we are to succeed in life.
I have developed the attitude that ‘if it is going to be, it is up to me’, which is the first step I have to taken to assume full responsibility for my life. Taking responsibility for your own actions means success or failure is the direct result of what you do or do not do. Being able to make my own decisive decisions is another attribute that I have found to be important. By ‘decisive’ I mean making a decision and sticking to it. So many times we decide to do something without the necessary conviction to carry it through. If you are not stable in doing anything you will be influenced by the first difficulty that you encounter.
It is good to be aware of all sides of an argument, but not to such an extent that you talk yourself out of doing something. Sometimes you have to just do it and then deal with the consequences, for better or worse. If you want success, you have to find something that you enjoy doing and have a real passion for. Without passion it is hard to stay on track and follow through.
It’s also important to remember that success isn’t just a matter of wealth and fortune. I have met some very successful people who others would see as very poor. The thing is, though they might not have a lot of money, they live their lives with passion, following their dreams and loving every minute of it. I have met other people who have been through unbelievably tough times but considered themselves successful in having survived it all. They looked forward with great expectancy for the future because their past was now behind them.
Life is what you make of it. Perhaps you didn’t choose the ingredients, but the pot of stew you create is up to you. It’s not a matter of ‘luck.’ You create your own ‘luck’ by having the right attitude and allowing the good things to happen. We are all magnets and attract to ourselves people, circumstances and events based on our attitudes and beliefs. How is your ‘attractor factor?” A good test is to ask yourself how much energy you put on thinking or worrying about a problem instead of the possible solutions.
Good Luck!!!
Here are the 12 success principles that I have learned to create and manage a life of ‘good luck.”
Clearly Identify What You Want
As they say, if you do not know where you are going, then you will never know when you get there.
Have An Action Plan
It’s not enough to know where you are going. You also need to know how and when you plan to get there.
Visualize
Your subconscious doesn’t know the difference between something ‘real’ or imagined. When you visual (imagine) your goal as already accomplished and get excited about it you activate to very powerful inner resources that will work overtime in helping you to realize your goal.
Act As If…
Start acting as if you have already achieved your goal. If you want to be a millionaire then act like one. Don’t talk about how you don’t have money or your humble background. Dress smartly. Go to places that millionaires go. But above all, be confident in yourself. I am not saying that you will be considered successful if you are a millionaire. I know of many people who are extremely successful but do not have a penny or dime to their names because what they consider success is what someone else will not see as success. Success is relative, but however you define it for yourself, the same principles apply.
Trust Your Instinct
Whether you call it instinct, intuition or divine guidance, learn quieten your mind and listen to that ‘still small voice’ within each time you face a situation that requires a decision. When you learn to trust your own inner wisdom, it will become clearer and clearer and you you will get the answers you need
Be Flexible
Regardless of the circumstances you face, learn to step back, re-evaluate the situation and be ready to adjust accordingly. Learn to adjust youir priorities according to the circumstances.
Be Decisive
Perhaps you have heard “not to decide is to decide.” How true this is. Indecisiveness not only leaves you in a muddle, but it puts the decision in to the hands of others or simply circumstances. Successful people are decision makers. But make sure the decision is yours and not based on what someone else wants.
Be Responsibile
If things aren’t going the way you planned, don’t complain or blame others. That only disempowers yourself. Assume personal responsibility for making the necessary changes to create what you want. In other words, we always have a choice of focusing on what we don’t want (complaining & blaming) or focusing on what we do want (taking positive action). Successful people focus on what they want and take action.
Persevere, Persevere, Persevere
Results& success don’t come from half-hearted action. They come from the commitment to stick to your plan until you succeed. This often demands sustained effort, sometimes in spite of many challenges and after repeated failure.
Conviction & Courage
Courage is the child of conviction. If you don’t have a strong belief in yourself and your goals, you wan’t have the courage to pursue them in the face of adversity or set backs.
Right Attitude
Right Attitude is a positive attitude. It is the belief that you can do whatever you set out to do. This is the mother of all of the other qualities. Right attitude gives birth to conviction and courage. Cultivate the right attitude and half the battle is won. Cultivate the right attitude and you are the creator of your own luck.
Self Discipline
Successful people – people who accomplish their goals – are people who have learned to manage themselves to carry out their the daily tasks. Having goals is essential but if you don’t have the self-discipline to follow through on the necessary tasks for reaching those goals, then they are useless. I have learnt the hard way to apply such principles daily, otherwise I would be setting myself up for disappointment.
Success and happiness are not accidents. If you master the principles that create ‘luck’ you will increase the probability that you will be in the right places at the right time to accomplish the things that are most important to you.
For example, I never thought of having what I had last year so fast, because it amazes me how they came in place. Most of my friends said it is Luck, but I told them it is hard work and I concentrate on the luck principles, which if they follow will also work for them. The thing is that we should be prepared for success.
Don’t wish or wait for a visit from ‘lady luck.’ Prepare for her and you will be surprised how quickly she shows up. Others may call it luck but with a secret smile you will know that you were properly prepared to be in the right place at the right time for synchronicity to bring you success.

How smart are your dreams?
So many people, if not everybody, want to live their dream life. If you want to live a dream life, not only must you decide what you want, you must have S.M.A.R.T goals: Specific, Measurable, Action, Realistic and Time bound. You must turn your dream into measurable goals, break those goals down into specific action steps and then visualize and affirm your desired outcomes.
I have a mentor who recommends me making a commitment to do something I have passion for, in at least three different areas, that will move me in the direction of my goal in life. Since then, I have devoted time for writing, reading books from various authors, spending time on the internet to read articles and listen to audio tapes about successful people how they achieve success.
For example, if one of your goals is to be a best selling author, then make a commitment, write at least two to three pages, spend 1 or 2 hours daily writing on the topic or subject that interest you. If you want to achieve physical fitness, make a commitment to do some sort of aerobics and stretching exercise three to four times a week for the duration of twenty to thirty minutes. If you simply go for 30 minutes walk for four times a week that would probably put you in the top 1% of those people who are fit. If your goal is to live have financial independence, start saving and investing a portion of your income every month without fail.
If you wish to translate your day dreams into a dream life then you must set specific, measurable goals to accomplish in a given time period and take the necessary action for meeting them. This is SMART! (You may contact Felix at flelixi@yahoo.com)

Finding true Fulfillment.
We don't know what happened to the man, but we do know that there is much more to life than what we are often led to believe. That sense of fulfillment is not always so easy to find. Many people think that it will come with wealth, fame or material possessions but many who have attained such things realize that this is not so.
Fulfillment is much more than this. It is learning to balance the many aspects of life; Spiritually Mentally, Physically, Materially, Financially & Emotionally. It is about living a life of values; values such as tolerance, generosity and tranquility. It is about helping others attain their dreams and not just about fulfilling your own. Fulfillment represents an inner wealth that cannot be purchased with money.
Those with power and wealth in their own time are often forgotten in the next generation. The people who are remembered are those who gave their lives to a higher purpose for the betterment of mankind. People like Gandhi, ML King, Mandela and the great spiritual teachers of history will be remembered for many generations because they found true fulfillment in helping others.
And what about you? Have you ever stopped to think that everything you are or ever will be is completely up to you? You are where you are because of who you are. This spells total responsibility. Responsibility is the hallmark of the fully integrated, fully functioning human being. Take full responsibility for creating the life you want.
There are two major actions you have to take to see these principles work in your life: Do and Teach. Make a personal commitment to start doing them because as the saying goes ‘your father cannot do your press – up for you’; nobody will do it for you. Also, start teaching others what you learnt. There is a magic that happens whenever you apply a new knowledge; it becomes a part of you. Also when you teach, you gain more insight into the subject. Herbert Spencer said, “The great aim of education is not knowledge, the greatest aim of education is action.” So, take action, I guarantee you will attract the life you want, fulfill your destiny and become the person you want to become.
